Robert A. Olson

Bob Olson passed away on November 2, 2021. He will be missed.

After graduation from HHS, I spent from 1951 to 1955 in the US Navy. I began college in January 1956 at Huron College, eventually transferring to South Dakota State College, Brookings in 1957. I graduated with an engineering degree in electrical engineering in June 1959, and began my career with Hughes Aircraft Company in Southern California. My wife Nell and I married in 1956. In 1963 we returned to Huron and began working for the US Bureau of Reclamation. Our family had grown to include three sons, Roger, Rick, and Mike. Our Bureau career took us to Boulder City, Nevada and then to Washington, D.C. where I ended up as head of the Bureau of Reclamation. I retired from the Bureau in August 1985 and began a career in private business. I purchased a minority interest in a full service utility consulting company headquartered in Sacremento, California. In 1989, I became the Chairman of the Board of Tucson, Az. based Century Power Corporation.

Our family has grown by the addition of five grandchildren, four boys and one girl. The families live in Boulder City, Nevada, Granite Bay, California and Phoenix, Arizona.

Nell and I are both avid golfers and enjoy traveling to various golf destinations. We also have a home in Phoenix, Arizona and spend our time enjoying both locations. We look forward each year to seeing and visiting with many friends on their winter visits to Phoenix.
